PREPARING FOR LABOUR: PHYSICALY,SPIRITUALY, EMOTIONALY & INTELLECTUALY
HOW TO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR LABOR I only know one way to deliver a baby and as far as I’m concerned, it is the most awesome way… The pain of NVD or Normal Vaginal Delivery might be unbearable but the bonding (with no pain on the way) and the feeling of total bliss afterwards more than make up for all the pain. I believe that Vaginal delivery is the real expression of feminism. I also believe that Caesarian Section must be an exception rather than the rule. Pity that’s not the case nowadays.
Preparing for labour: how to prepare yourself for this physically and mentally challenging task of giving birthHOW TO PREPARE FOR LABOUR - PHYSICALY, MENTALY, SPIRITUALY, INTELECTUALLY AND EMOTIONALY Labour is never the same for two women. Some experience a little discomfort while others experience labour pains as the most excruciating pains they have ever known. In terms of preparation, I have a few tips for you: Be healthy: 1. Physically - light exercise to prepare your body and your muscles for the job + breathing exercises 2.Spiritually - harness your faith and remember that God has been doing this through a woman’s body since the beginning of time. What is there to be afraid of? 3. Intellectually - empower yourself with knowledge of what is going on with your body. If you can name it, it becomes less intimidating doesn’t it? So instead of ‘oh, this is so painful’; say ‘oh, now my cervix is dilating some more to allow the baby to go through. Isn’t that more purposeful! 4. Emotionally - Keep a positive attitude and keep your eyes on the price! Alleviate anxiety. Remember that this should and must happen for the baby to be delivered. "Call it "womb awe" or even "womb worship" but it's not simple envy. I don't remember even wanting to be a woman. But each of the three times I have been present at the birth of one of my children, I have been overwhelmed by a sense of reverence... It was quite suddenly, the first day of creation; the Goddess giving birth to a world... Like men since the beginning of time I wondered: What can I ever create that will equal the magnificence of this new life?" ~ Sam Keen
