GRANDCHILDREN: THE JOYS OF BEING A GRANDCHILD AND OF HAVING A GRANDPARENT/GRANDPARENTS
GRANDCHILDREN: IT IS A JOY AND A BLESSING TO BE A GRAND-CHILD The relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren could easily be called one of the most rewarding and memorable relationships for both parties. This relationship is usually characterized by deep love and appreciation for each other; calmness; education; patience and understanding. Parents themselves often wonder what happened to their (previously) strict mom/dad, who now spoils their grand children rotten! Grannies are often too protective and would reprimand the parents for being tough on the kids.
FROM THE MOUTHS OF GRANDPARENTS (ON THE WONDERFUL RELATIONSHIPS THEY ENJOY WITH THEIR GRANDCHILDREN)"QUAOTATIONS AND WISE WORDS OF ADVICE FROM GRANDPARENTS" “With your own kids, you know they are yours and therefore your whole responsibilty. We enjoy grand children more because they are not always there. When you are tired, you can always give them back to their parents” – Aletta, 58 “Grandparents are pretty good at parenting, God should have made planned for people to have kids when they are older; but then again, they wouldn’t have the experience.” ~ Mantlo, 74 “As grannies, we have a wealth of experience to offer our grand kids and their parents. We are close to our grand children and sometimes we try and rectify the parental mistakes we have committed – and hoping that our kids (the parents) will learn from us.” – Emily, 71
