As human beings, we are born with a need to belong, and family is a wonderful unit to satisfy that yearn for belonging. However, family relationships and/or sibling relationships can be very challenging at times. Sibling rivalry is very common, and can sometimes be so severe that brothers and sisters don't relate at all, for the rest of their lives. Fights can get out of hand and family members can turn against each other.
Family and siblings can be the best thing that we could ever have been given, if relationships and sibling rivalry could be well managed. Siblings just need to understand what family means, and that yes, there will be misunderstandings and disagreements; but things need not be blown out of proportion. Families need to acknowledge that they are family and they cannot divorce each other. Try and solve any misunderstandings, and enjoy the family unit. Having a family and siblings is a wonderful thing, do not blow it. You are a family afterall!
The rising numbers of Television programmes aiming to bring long-lost and enstranged family members together is proof enough that family is crucial to a happy, balanced life. I wish people can learn from such stories
